Mid-Century Teak Drop-Leaf Dining Table, United Kingdom, 1960s

This stylish gate-leg (drop-leaf) dining table was manufactured in the United Kingdom during the 1960s. It is an excellent example of functional Mid-Century Modern design, combining elegant aesthetics with practical everyday usability. The characteristic folding leaves allow the size of the table to be easily adapted to current needs. When folded, the table measures only 61 cm in width, while fully extended it reaches 113 cm, making it equally suitable for compact interiors and larger gatherings.

The table features two drop leaves which, when raised, form a full oval tabletop. A distinctive feature of the design is the rotating central section of the top, allowing both leaves to rest on a stable supporting structure when extended. This ingenious solution ensures excellent rigidity and exceptional stability, even when the table is fully opened. The slender tapered legs give the piece a sense of visual lightness and emphasize its timeless character.

Crafted from teak wood, the table has undergone comprehensive woodworking restoration. It was stripped of the old coating, stained in a walnut colour, and finished with high-quality danish oil, providing durable protection and a natural satin appearance.

Thanks to its versatility and compact dimensions when folded, this table is an ideal choice for a dining room, kitchen, or smaller apartment, while still offering the full functionality of a classic extending dining table.
