This set of six Ella dining chairs was designed by Arne Vodder for the Danish furniture maker Vamo Sønderborg during the 1960s. The model is among the most celebrated examples of Danish Mid-Century Modern design and perfectly reflects Vodder’s distinctive approach to combining light, organic forms with exceptional seating comfort. The chairs are also known as the Ellen model.
The frames are crafted from teak and oak wood with beautiful natural grain. Their slender tapered legs and elegantly sculpted side supports, flowing seamlessly into the backrests, give the chairs a refined and graceful silhouette. The adjustable headrests allow the backrest angle to be tailored to individual preference, enhancing seating comfort. Ergonomically shaped backrests and generously proportioned seats provide excellent comfort, making the chairs ideal for both everyday dining and longer gatherings.
The set has undergone professional woodworking and upholstery restoration. The wooden elements were stripped of the old coating and finished with high-quality Danish oil, which enhances the natural beauty of the teak and oak, highlights the depth of the grain, and provides durable surface protection. The upholstery foam has been replaced, and both the seats and backrests have been reupholstered in a high-quality light grey fabric.
