This elegant sideboard was manufactured in the 1960s by the renowned Scottish furniture maker A.H. McIntosh & Co. of Kirkcaldy. The piece is an excellent example of British Mid-Century Modern design, combining a clean, timeless form with outstanding craftsmanship. The cabinet is raised on slender, shaped legs that lend the piece a sense of lightness and the distinctive elegance characteristic of the period.
The sideboard features three spacious drawers and two lockable cupboards. Its interior offers practical shelving and ample storage space, making it a versatile addition to a living room, dining room, or home office. A distinctive feature of the design is the subtly sculpted handles integrated into the fronts, emphasizing the minimalist and modern character of the piece.
The sideboard has undergone comprehensive woodworking restoration. Crafted from teak wood, it was stripped of the old coating, stained in a rosewood colour, and finished with high-quality Rustins Danish Oil, which enhances the natural beauty of the wood while providing durable surface protection.
The piece retains its original manufacturer’s labels from A.H. McIntosh & Co. as well as the original retailer’s label from The Times Furnishing Company.
