This set of four dining chairs was designed by Antonín Šuman for the Czechoslovak furniture maker MIER Topoľčany during the 1960s. The model is distinguished by its characteristic organically shaped backrest with a large oval cut-out and its slender tapered legs. Its simple yet timeless form perfectly reflects the aesthetic of Central European Mid-Century Modern design.
The frames are crafted from solid beech wood, while the backrests are finished in beautifully figured ash veneer. The set has undergone comprehensive woodworking and upholstery restoration. The wooden elements were stripped of the old coating, stained in an oak colour, and finished with a durable semi-matt lacquer that enhances the natural beauty of the wood grain.
The upholstery interiors have been replaced, and the seats have been reupholstered in a high-quality forest green fabric. The carefully selected colour complements the warm tones of the wood, further emphasizing the elegant and timeless character of the set.
