Mid-Century Astro Teak Coffee Table by Victor Wilkins for G-Plan, United Kingdom, 1960s

990.00

This Astro coffee table was designed by Victor Wilkins for the British furniture maker G-Plan during the 1960s. Part of the iconic Astro range, it is one of the most recognisable designs of British Mid-Century Modern furniture. Its distinctive sculptural base and circular glass-inset tabletop give the piece a light, elegant appearance and a timeless character.

Crafted from teak wood with beautiful natural grain, the table features a striking base composed of four gracefully sculpted elements that form a harmonious, open structure – the signature feature of the Astro design. The circular top with its toughened glass inset enhances the visual lightness of the piece while showcasing the elegant form of the base. The table retains its original manufacturer’s label.

The table has undergone comprehensive woodworking restoration. The wooden elements were stripped of the old coating and finished with high-quality Danish oil, which enhances the natural beauty of the teak wood, highlights the depth of its grain, and provides durable surface protection. The glass top has been replaced with a new toughened glass panel.
