Mid-Century Mahogany Extending Dining Table by White & Newton, United Kingdom, 1960s

1,190.00

This extending dining table was manufactured by the British furniture maker White & Newton during the 1960s. The piece is an excellent example of elegant Mid-Century Modern design, valued for its light form, high-quality craftsmanship, and timeless functionality. The slender tapered legs and subtly sculpted frame give the table a sense of visual lightness and refined elegance.

The table features a practical extension system with an additional leaf stored neatly within the structure. This allows the tabletop length to be easily increased from 122 cm to 168 cm, making it suitable for accommodating a larger number of guests. The gently rounded edges of the tabletop further enhance the modern character of the design.

Crafted from mahogany wood, the table has undergone comprehensive woodworking restoration. The wood was stripped of the old coating and stained in a rosewood colour, enhancing the natural grain. It was then finished with a durable high-quality semi-matt lacquer, providing long-lasting surface protection.
