This Ella dining chair was designed by Arne Vodder for the Danish furniture maker Vamo Sønderborg during the 1960s. The model is among the most celebrated examples of Danish Mid-Century Modern design and perfectly reflects Vodder’s distinctive approach to combining light, organic forms with exceptional seating comfort. The chair is also known as the Ellen model.
The frame is crafted from teak and oak wood with beautiful natural grain. Its slender tapered legs and elegantly sculpted side supports, flowing seamlessly into the backrest, give the chair a refined and graceful silhouette. The adjustable headrest allows the backrest angle to be tailored to individual preference, enhancing seating comfort. The ergonomically shaped backrest and generously proportioned seat provide outstanding comfort, making the chair ideal for both everyday dining and as a standalone accent piece.
The chair has undergone professional woodworking and upholstery restoration. The wooden elements were stripped of the old coating and finished with high-quality Danish oil, which enhances the natural beauty of the teak and oak, highlights the depth of the grain, and provides durable surface protection. The upholstery foam has been replaced, and the seat and backrest have been reupholstered in a high-quality black fabric.
